As someone who loves being in the backcountry, I cannot deny the fact that having a cell phone in my pocket is handy for multiple reasons. Thanks to clever people developing useful apps, we can enjoy the solitude of being out on the trail and have many items all contained in one place.
Our phone can be our camera, GPS tracker, map source and much more. Sometimes it's even nice to play a hand of Solitaire after a few hours of waiting out the rain in your tent, or reading a couple pages of your favorite book. Lets face it, cell phones are here to stay, and we might as well take advantage of great apps that help us enjoy our time outdoors even more.
It's a way for us to geek out!
